In my educational journey as a new agent, I decided to take the several courses offered by all of the cruise lines in order to provide the best service to my current and future customers.
This is a good thing, for sure, however my journey to learn what each cruise line has to offer has been met with a bit of uncertainty. Initially I was thinking to say it’s been met with frustration but that isn’t actually the case. There may be frustration in finding customers but that is not connected to learning the cruise line details.
The uncertainty lies in knowing which cruise line to study in anticipation of a customer wanting to float on that cruise line’s ship. The problem is I don’t own a crystal ball.
I recently reached commodore status with Princess Cruises which is their highest ranking. Does that mean I am an expert in all things Princess? Not even close! I have way more to learn and luckily they offer additional courses as refreshers or as a way to become an expert in their many destinations.
Now I am moving on to learn more about Virgin Voyages where they use tiers to indicate levels of learning. Much of what I’m learning with them is far different than Princess Cruises.
I’m glad cruise lines are different from each other and, once I book cruises for clients on various lines, I will know which to offer based on their travel needs and interests.
In the meantime, it’s not always easy for me to hold on to the information learned when it’s not implemented it anywhere. That doesn’t mean I should just stop learning and wait for a client to tell me they want to cruise with Virgin or Princess or Celebrity or the several other lines.
Hopefully, I can retain enough to simply refresh myself with a particular cruise line’s policy and go from there!
